For your next holiday, direct your choice of destination to Les Salles sur Verdon. The location is among the most beautiful villages in France. The village is situated 15 km from Moustiers Sainte Marie and 21 km from Bauduen, in the Var department, in the Paca region. The small village acts as a green lung and is home to a vast expanse of greenery. Let's go back in time to discover its history before venturing into the heart of its cosy atmosphere.
Les Salles sur Verdon used to be a beautiful little village in the Alpes-de-hautes-provence. The peaceful village lived happily at the bottom of the valley until the 1970s. In 1973, the Provençal village was submerged under water following the construction of the EDF dam. The flooding led to the disruption of the valley, the destruction of the church, the demolition of the houses stone by stone, the destruction of the cemeteries and the exodus. Its disappearance gave birth to the lake of Sainte Croix du Verdon.
A few years later, the first stone of the new village was laid on the edge of the lake. Les Salles-sur-Verdon was reborn from its ashes and moved closer to the 2,700 hectare lake. The strategic location transforms the anodyne commune into a resort.
