The lavender trail by mountain bike
There are many circuits to choose from starting from the Valensole plateau: The 22-kilometer, 2-hour circuit, passing lavender, sunflower and olive fields. You’ll discover trails filled with the riches of regional aromatic plants, and go home with the sweet-smelling memory of lavender.
Getaway by car
You can also visit the area by car. A 60 km walk around all the small villages of the Gorges du Verdon, passing through the village of Valensole, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Riez or Montagnac-Montpezat, will offer you a magnificent view of the vast landscape to photograph. You’ll pass through fields of lavender, sunflowers and almond trees, and visit distilleries.

Plantations of lavender, the region’s “blue gold”, bring a wealth of riches to the area, as this aromatic plant can be used in a multitude of ways. The distillation of true and spike lavender yields an essential oil and an incredible fragrance, as well as other transformations with medicinal virtues perfect for aromatherapy, for example. You can also visit the region’s distilleries and perfume factories. A fun and rewarding activity idea that will delight young and old alike.

Imagine being able to admire one of France’s most beautiful landscapes by flying over it in a hot-air balloon or paraglider. These activities are open all year round.
